The Shaagird Foundation successfully conducted a free medical camp in Ghatmika, Rajasthan, on 8th February, 2024. The camp focused on screening, treating, and giving medical advice to the residents of Ghatmika. An array of medical services was offered to more than 200 residents of the village under the supervision of Dr. Salma and two medical professionals.

Shaagird Foundation, through medical camps, aims to enhance the overall well-being of the society. The organization believes that everyone deserves a comprehensive medical facility.

The camp started with the speech of Aasif Mujtaba, Founder & COO, Shaagird Foundation. Highlighting the importance of health care, Mujtaba said, “Our goal is not only to provide medical check-ups and treatments, but also to raise awareness about the importance of health and wellness. We want to empower each of you to take control of your health and lead a life of well-being.”
“Our aim has always been to improve the quality of life for those in need and support, irrespective of their background and want. Today, as I stand in front of you all, I feel honored to bring medical assistance and health awareness to the local populace of Ghatmika,” Mujtaba added.

Following this, Dr. Salma emphasized how, as a society, we have to erase both spiritual and bodily diseases. “Today, I have not come to you as a doctor. I stand before you as a human being… Just as a wound on the body worsens if left untreated, the wounds in our society must also be healed by us—otherwise, they will only grow deeper,” she said.
After a while, a large queue of patients was made in front of the camp with children, men, and women eagerly waiting for their turns to come.

As reported by Dr. Salma, “Almost everyone had skin allergies, women mostly complained of leucorrhea, and most of them were anemic.”
One by one, all the patients were screened and treated according to the symptoms they manifested.
“I have been facing health issues for a long time now. The camp helped me to learn about my medical condition. I am grateful that I have been treated,” said Sameena.
“I’m glad that the camp was organized. My daughter Shifa has been facing a constant fever and cold for over a week. I am happy that she has received medicine now,” said Sajida.

Sajida is the widow of Junaid, who was lynched to death by cow vigilantes for the crime he never committed. With the death of Junaid, Sajida struggled to meet the ends. Shaagird Foundation facilitated the education of Sajida’s sons.
“I experience headaches during nighttime. And sometimes a chest pain.” Kurshidan told Dr. Salma. Kurshidan is a widow of Umar who was also lynched to death by cow vigilantes.
“I have a cold, and I am happy that I have received treatment. I am happy that a medical camp was set up,” said Bazgari.

“I am deeply grateful to the team of doctors, nurses, medical staff, and members of Shaagird Foundation who have dedicated their time and effort to make this camp a success. Their passion and commitment to improving lives are the heart of this initiative,” Aasif Mujtaba said while concluding the camp.
About Shaagird Foundation: At Shaagird Foundation, we fight for a world where education isn’t a privilege but a birthright. We act as changemakers, paving the way for marginalized children in India, removing the barriers that exclude them from classrooms and opportunity.

We believe every child holds the potential to create a meaningful change in society, a potential that burgeons with the power of knowledge. Our mission is to rekindle that spark within, empowering children impacted by dehumanization acts, communal violence, and those from underprivileged communities. We work tirelessly to transform the distant dream of quality education into a vibrant reality.
By providing access to education, we empower these young minds to become the torchbearers of their own lives and the future leaders of our nation. We opine that together, we can build a more inclusive, equitable society, one bright mind at a time. To learn more about the Foundation’s uplifting stories and their work visit the website.
